The ancient settlement of Saraishyk is one of the oldest monuments on
the territory of Kazakhstan, which has already more than one millennium. During
the existence of the Golden Horde and the Kazakh khanate, the city had an
important trade value, as the main caravan routes passed through it. During the
excavations of the 90s, archaeologists found the remains of ceramic dishes,
pottery samples, which are decorated with ornaments and gold paintings. 1999
was marked by the foundation of the memorial complex “Khan's headquarters”,
which included the Khan's pantheons, a mosque and a Museum, where exhibits
found during the research of local lands are presented.
